Dont miss the best music festival in Australia

ONLY at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music can you see 74 bands alongside 74 islands in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.

With jaw-dropping views from the main tent almost completely surrounded by the Coral Sea, it’s a party in a tropical paradise where you get to watch big name acts and discover new talent.

With headliners like Leo Sayer, Glen Matlock (The Sex Pistols), Kate Ceberano, The Chantoozies, Sneaky Sound System, The Baby Animals, and Monsters of Rock, the 2017 Airlie Beach Festival of Music has something to satisfy everyone’s tastes.

And thanks to festival sidelines, including what has now become Australia’s biggest ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition, you can see and hear the artists of the future in Airlie Beach.

“It’s a festival where you get the up-and-coming unknowns beside the old legends,” event founder Gavin ‘Butto’ Butlin says.

“You get to hear the big name acts you grew up with and the acts you never even knew existed – but they’re unreal.”

On top of this you can experience an entire town coming alive to the sound of music for the festival weekend of November 10-12.

With the music spread throughout 18 venues little more than a kilometre apart, the atmosphere is electric.

“The buzz is contagious,” festival coordinator Ellie Hanlon says.

“Strangers are bonding and telling each other, ‘you’ve got to see this band’ and comparing notes over their programs.
