ABFOM announces first line up for 2021 Festival

Airlie Beach Festival of Music (ABFoM) is thrilled to make its first lineup announcement for the 2021 festival! Artists performing at this years’ event will include The Angels, Rogue Traders, Mi-Sex, The Pierce Brothers, Rav Thomas, Lloyd Spiegel, Bill Chambers and Matt Angell.

Festival-goers will have the chance to see some of Australia’s world class acts and Passport to Airlie festival up-and-comers at a picturesque setting right in the Heart of the Whitsundays from Friday November 5 to Sunday November 7.

Formed in 1977, pub rock legends The Angels have had 13 studio albums, eight Top 10 albums, 17 Top 40 singles, earned a following through thousands of gigs and been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1998.

We’re over the moon to be playing some shows again and can’t wait to strap on the guitars and rock out with the crowd at Airlie Beach!

The Angels

Iconic electric pop-rock band Rogue traders have toured their global chart-topping singles nationally and globally for over two decades. The group, fronted by Natalie Bassingthwaighte, have sold over 1 million records worldwide, with their 2005 album Here Comes the Drums reaching 4x certified platinum on the ARIA albums chart.

New Zealand-born Mi-Sex will grace the stage this year with their new wave sound that has earned them shows with The Ramones and Iggy Pop, two multi-platinum albums, and a plethora of accords like the 1979 TV Week/Countdown Music Awards’ ‘Most Popular Album’, ‘Best Australian Single’ and ‘Best New Talent’.

Pierce Brothers, formed by twins Jack and Patrick Pierce, are a captivating indie-folk act who’ve performed alongside the likes of Tash Sultana and Tones and I, headlined sold out international venues, released a Top 15 ARIA debut album (Atlas Shoulders) and two Top 10 ARIA EPs, and received over 30 million streams worldwide.

Ráv Thomas is an enduring Aussie independent music success story. With three Indie Number 1s, a Most Added track to Australian radio, and shows with an extraordinarily long list of major Australian and international names, he’s stoked to return to ABFoM in 2021.

After a year away, we couldn’t be more excited to return to what is like a second home for us for the ABFoM. If anywhere knows how to party it’s Airlie, and we’ll be making up for lost time!

Ráv Thomas.

Blues musician Lloyd Spiegel’s 32 years of global tours have seen him support legends like Ray Charles, Etta James and Bob Dylan at major international venues, and earned him myriad accolades like the 2018 Blues and Roots Radio Worldwide Awards Album of the Year and one of Australian Guitar Magazine’s Top 50 Australian guitarists of all time.

Former Dead Ringer Band frontman Bill Chambers has had two ARIA nominations for Best Country Album and has won the Smoky Dawson Award at the Country Music Awards of Australia. He’s gracing the stage in Airlie this year with his sweet quintessential country tunes.

ABFoM regular Matt Angell is thankfully bringing his talents back again in 2021! The nomadic performer will bring to the Whitsundays a stunning unique sound influenced by the greats of Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young.
