John Schuman and Shane Howard
JOHN SCHUMAN AND JOHN HOWARD
This pair of legendary Australian musicians will perform a catalogue of hits from their various projects over the years adding to their already iconic catalogue of performances that have helped shape the nature of Australian music.
John - South Australian singer-songwriter, John Schumann, is best known, perhaps, for his leadership of the legendary folk-rock band Redgum, and his Vietnam veterans’ anthem, “I Was Only”. Having received almost every award the industry has to offer – some twice over - he holds a distinguished place in the Australian music industry. A recording artist with ABC/Universal and a highly regarded writer with Universal Music Publishing Pty Ltd, John is still active in the music industry with his new band John Schumann &The Vagabond Crew
Among his many accolades, John Schumann is the recipient of the Order of Australia Medal and a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Flinders University. His lyrics are on reading lists in schools, colleges and universities throughout Australia.
John Schumann still lives in Adelaide. He has upset almost everyone in a position of importance both there and interstate. He claims not to care.
Shane - For 40 years Shane Howard has established himself as one of Australia's most influential writers and singers.
Howard's songs created a new map of Australia. From the red heart, where he penned his anthemic ‘Solid Rock’, to the wilds of Tasmania that gave birth to ‘Let the Franklin Flow’, he’s created a uniquely Australian voice.
His songs dig down into what it means to be a modern Australian. They also reach across the globe and champion the cause of the common people, the environment and the injustices of colonisation.
‘Dark Matter’, his 14th solo album released in March 2020, continues to plumb the depths.
